The citation is the obituary of Blanche Mizerny (31 Dec 1999), not of Joseph, and no image or text is supplied. It may mention Joseph as a predeceased spouse, but nothing here states his death date of 14 October 1993. Nothing contradicts the claim, but the evidence is thin and cannot confirm the date.
Matches: Obituary of Blanche Mizerny in the Edwardsville Intelligencer is plausibly a family obituary that could mention a deceased husband Joseph Mizerny; Surname and publication locality fit a Mizerny family
Limits: No image or transcription is attached, so the obituary text cannot be read; The citation does not state Joseph Mizerny's death date; a 1999 obituary of Blanche would at most mention him as predeceased, and rarely gives a full date; Relationship of Blanche to Joseph is not shown in the evidence; Newspaper obituary is for a different person, so it is a secondary source for Joseph's death, and the 14 October 1993 date cannot be confirmed; Only the 1993 death year is compatible with 'predeceased' in a 1999 obituary, and even that is not shown
